Pros Advice
Play your best golf this year

What an incredible weekend we just had at The Masters! Rory's Grand-Slam is certainly well-earned and that final round battle for the win will be staying in our minds for weeks to come!
While most of us would probably be submitting scorecards that were nothing to boast about heading around a championship course, it’s never too late to better your game.
Take a moment to think of how your current game is and the kinks in your armour. Do you find it hard to find fairways off the tee? Or maybe it feels like game-over every time you enter a bunker?

We're not talking about Project Scratch or anything like that. But a lesson here or there on the areas that cause you to drop shots will go a long way to lowering your scores and increasing your enjoyment on the course!
Off the tee

Depending on how you’re playing, driving can be either your favourite or least favourite part of your game. One thing’s for certain, hitting a perfect drive and watching your ball fly far and straight to rest comfortably in the middle of the fairway is one of the best feelings in the game of golf.
Plenty of golfers either struggle with a slice or a draw when playing with their driver, having a shot shape that has the ball flying drastically either to the right or left of the fairway.
How many times does a bad score result from a bad drive? Whether your ball flies OOB, ends up in the trees or simply can't be found, starting the hole on the right foot is so important if you want to make par (or better!).
Iron play

It can feel like a big let-down if you hit a great drive only to mis-hit your approach shot from the fairway. Getting to consistent grips with your irons can be a challenge for many golfers and it can be demoralising when you hit the ground before the ball and your shot only travels a number of yards.
Whether you suffer with inconsistent striking or struggle to keep the ball on line with the green, we can help. After all, the more greens you hit, the better your score becomes, so it’s a vital aspect of your game to get right.
100 yards and in

It’s just as imperative that you get your pitch shots right when you’re within 100 yards of the hole.
Think back to your last round and count the number of times you hit a shot from 100 yards or in. Whether it's a great drive that leaves a flick into the green or you've had to chip out sideways from trouble, being sharp from this distance is what separates the very best golfers with great golfers, and great golfers with good golfers.
Putting

Putting is always where the game is won or lost, and missing the smallest of putts can be incredibly frustrating.
If you regularly 3-putt, we’d urge you to get more strategic about your time spent on the greens. Lag-putting is a helpful technique whereby you mentally give yourself a larger target to focus on with the intention of 2-putting rather than putting yourself under greater pressure to sink longer putts.
It’s also key to approach putting with a positive mindset, it’s very rare that players are perfect on the greens.
Did you know that on average, PGA Tour pros will only sink an 8-foot putt 52% of the time?
No two putts are the same, and there’s a hugely different feel between taking 2-foot, 4-foot, 8-foot putts and beyond.
Whether you have a high handicap or you’re a veteran of the game, there’s always areas of our game we can improve on to get the most out of golf. If you’re as excited about we are for the warmer months ahead, why not get yourself some lessons booked in with us in the pro shop?
