Hello Golfers,

We hope you're well.

We continue on the roadmap and this week it was great to welcome you back actually ‘into’ the shop.

It's been great to see so many faces since returning from lockdown, we just need the weather to turn so we can get out of the winter clothing.

Two majors in two weeks - we really have been spoilt! Can we do it all over again? The golf from Augusta National was fantastic and has made us want to get out on the course at every opportunity. Hopefully, we'll see you down the club this weekend.

Is Golf going to boom?

Like last year I'm sure there will be a boom in participation and tuition so please bear this in mind when looking to book tee times and coaching slots.

One issue we encountered last year was the availability and supply of product from manufacturers with some items on backorder for up to 3 months!

This was a nationwide issue and not just us here at SGC.

We have stocked up nicely for the reopening, however, we would recommend if you have your eye on something to purchase sooner rather than later.

The big rumour is the worldwide shortage of believe it or not ‘rubber’ so the premium ball market like Pro V1 and Srixon Z Star which have Urethane in them could become in short supply and golf grips!!!!!!!!

We will of course keep you updated with developments or shortages.

As it's been a while I thought I would just remind you of the services we offer on-site.

Golf on Tour

A new winner at Augusta

The Masters has a long, rich tradition of making history, and that was only furthered by Hideki Matsuyama becoming the first Japanese golfer to win a Major, finishing Sunday draped in a Green Jacket. A momentous achievement for the golfer and his home nation.

The list of big names to miss the +3 cut, including reigning champ Dustin Johnson and Grand Slam-chasing Rory McIlroy, tells you just how brutal Augusta National played over the first few days. Matsuyama found that brutality at the worst time, watching his lead cut from six with seven to play to a one-shot, nervy victory down the stretch. But he made it, and now his name is etched into the history books.

Beyond the blade

It’s pretty hard to miss the difference between modern-day mallets and traditional blades, but there are aspects of both putter styles that are much less obvious but still really set them apart from models of the past.

Cleveland putters through the years

Product spotlight

New & Improved - Srixon Z-Star golf balls

Srixon is a much-loved brand when it comes to golf balls. From the immensely popular AD333 to the incredibly soft UltiSoft, each model offers something slightly different.

Well, sitting at the top of Srixon's line-up are the Z-Star and Z-Star XV balls, both of which were used by players at last week's Masters Tournament.
