This year we have introduced TaylorMade as a new manufacturer in the shop. For those of you that read last week’s edition, you would have seen myself and Ryan were with them learning and trialling the product last week. The drivers are available for fitting now and pre-order for release early next month.

As part of doing TaylorMade this week, we had the very popular TP5 balls delivered and available to purchase.

A Pro V competitor and very much a popular ball on tour and well worth a try.

Cobra SZ

We continue to stock and fit Cobra and this week the new SZ range was delivered.

We are currently waiting for the fitting parts which are en route, but you can still have a look what they look like.

Odyssey Triple Track

Finally this week the hotly anticipated release of the Odyssey triple track putters has happened and they are in store.

The great thing about these putters is they incorporate the triple track visual from last year’s ERC ball on to the top of the putters for super easy alignment. Add in the use of the ball and how easy will it be to align! The only thing to worry about now is the speed of the putt!

They look and feel great and we are expecting a huge interest in these.

Pro Shop Challenge

It’s back! The pro shop challenge, where you can take on two members of the pro shop team and the winning team over the course of the season take home the glory and a prize supplied by the pro shop! We will start in April!

Last year we played a better ball medal and this year we are looking at changing the format and would love to hear your ideas.

Srixon/ Cleveland Fitting Day

Tuesday 25th February - Starting at 3pm – 7pm

We will be hosting the UK’s first Demo of the year from Srixon/ Cleveland. The day will be hosted by one of the team from Srixon with us overseeing them.

The range has certainly been a popular choice since we introduced it last year and if you haven't tried it then it certainly is worth a try.

Last year we were the first site in the UK to offer and host the UK’s first Speed Clinic. In March it is back!

Herts PGA events...

I have had some more interest in taking teams to Pro-Am’s in the new year.

The Herts PGA offer a number of Pro-Am events through the ‘off-season’ and next year is the Centenary Year Of The Hertfordshire PGA. Ryan and I would love to take a couple of teams to each of these events.

The venues are great and priced up from £65 a man. They are made up of teams of 3 and a pro. Bacon/coffee rolls to start, a round of golf, two-course meal and a prize table are all included in the day (prize table subject to our results) plus the company and guidance from your resident golf pro’s for the day.

I would walk 500 miles

Okay, the title is a slight exaggeration but the simple truth is that we all cover a good distance when playing a round of golf, especially those playing army golf! But, how far do we actually walk? Well, we got the calculator out to have a go at figuring it out for real.

Golf courses average between 6,500 and 6,800 yards. For argument’s sake, let’s split that down the middle at 6,650 yards, which means you would cover 3.78 miles (6.08km if you prefer) if you walked in a straight line.

However, factors such as the distance from green to tees, your ability, and how often you're searching for lost balls all come into play. So, in most cases, you can expect to walk between 50 and 70% further than the yardage length of the course!

All of this means one thing in our eyes - make sure you're wearing comfortable footwear out on the course. We have a great selection in the pro shop so come down and try on a few pairs before your next round.
