A round with Ryan...
This week Ryan was in PGA action in the Eastern Region Assistant's Championship. Over 60 played over 36 holes on Monday and, after we went for a scouting trip last week, Ry was ready to take his game out onto the course.
Here’s Ryan’s report:
This week I got the chance to get out and play some competitive golf. Most of my year has been pretty unsuccessful when playing in competition, with most of that coming down to a lack of competitive golf with my two rounds on Monday being only my 6th and 7th tournament rounds of the year. However, on Monday, I had the chance to play those two rounds in the Assistant's Championship at Bishop Stortford. For those who have read my round-ups for a while, you will know this was the place where I passed my playing ability test to turn pro. So I was feeling good being back there. Round one was typical of any golfer who plays a decent round, I came in saying it should of been three or four lower. With three birdies and one bogey on the front 9 I was 2 under, followed by a lone bogey on the back 9, I finished 1 under. And I was 3 back of the leader and positioned in tied 3rd by myself. Round two, again I started strong but ultimately ended up shooting 2 over to finish 1 over for the day, which got me into tied 7th. Although I walked away a little disappointed knowing I should of had a chance at a higher finish or possibly giving myself a chance of winning, but upon reflection it is my best finish of the year so far. So I can happily say it was nice to have a decent result. |
