Pro Shop Challenge...
This week’s challengers were lady members Julie Forshew and Paula O’Flynn.
The pair were the second team to sign up so were obviously eager to take up the challenge and the chance to win a couple of new golf bags. The pro shop team of myself and Ryan were giving the pair a ‘nice’ amount of shots but were ready for our 2pm tee time. The ladies were loving the par 3’s making a nett birdie each on the second and 5th but a couple drop shots still left them at level par through 5. A slow start through the first four holes for us came to life when I managed to match Julie’s nett birdie on 5 with one of my own before Ryan birdied 6 and 7. A couple pars in and we managed to match our best score of -3. The ladies on the other hand tired over the final few holes on a really beautiful and warm afternoon and finished with +3 for the nine holes.
In the bar after and a bit of a debriefing of the game, we got discussing the notable tired swings coming up the last two holes and we hadn’t noticed either of them eat or drink on the way round and how important it is to keep hydrated and fed on the course. Put it this way if you are thirsty on the course you are already dehydrated and that will certainly impact your physical and mental performance.
