We can nearly say goodbye to January. It feels like we have been in January forever, but now as we move into February we are inching closer to the Spring and the start of the golfing season. If it doesn’t feel like it is around the corner, just think of it this way. There are less than 70 days until ‘The Masters’ at Augusta - I thought that would cheer you up. See the season is just around the corner.

Winter takes its grip...
Last week and again this week we experienced some disruption and closures due to the snow, frozen snow and then frost, over Wednesday and Thursday, please note the below for course closures due to frost through the winter.
Frost and our Greens: Damage caused by play during frosty weather falls into two main categories: - When frozen, plant tissues are easily bruised by players’ feet. Following a thaw, it is often possible to see brown footmarks for several weeks, particularly around hole sites. The greater the weight of play in hard frost, obviously the greater becomes the extent of this damage. Affected areas remain thin for long periods, altering the trueness of the putting surface, and are more susceptible to disease in spring.
- Long-term damage is caused when play takes place after a sudden thaw. In these conditions the top layer of thatch and soil becomes soft, whilst the underlying soil remains frozen. Root damage occurs from the shearing action as players’ feet move the soft, unfrozen surface across the frozen sub-surface. This disrupts putting surfaces and creates weak areas that may not recover before the height of the competition season.
For the latest updates on the course conditions and/or closures the best place for updates is on our social media channels.

The best keeps getting better |
Titleist is a brand which is synonymous with excellence, with the iconic Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls proving a huge success for almost two decades now. So, rather than wholesale changes to an already brilliant offering, the brand has made some subtle - yet significant - improvements for 2019, including a high optic yellow colour option! |
| Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x (2019) |
|
Golfers are greedy. We want to hit the ball further than ever but without giving up on anything else, such as feel or control. Well, the 2019 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls will give you more ball speed and less long-game spin off the clubface compared to previous versions, which is the perfect equation for increased distance. |
Couple this with amazing short game performance, and you have two golf balls that'll provide you with everything you need on the golf course. Not sure which one to go for? Come and chat to us in-store and we'll fit you for the Titleist golf ball which best suits your game. |
