Enjoying golf once more!
I received an email from one of our members Steve Wilson recently and thought I would share his story about his coaching. “Playing a round of golf had become a bit of a chore. When hitting the ball I no confidence where the shot would go, unless there were trees or deep rough and I knew that would be my next shot. “My game had become a mental battle but also an increasing strain on my body. It was clear that I was tampering with my swing and generally practicing and applying bad skills. Eventually I simply stopped enjoying golf. “However having heard good things about Matt’s professional lessons I thought it was worth the time and effort, so I gave it go. From the first few minutes, when I thought I was just warming up, Matt was looking and noting my swing. From then on he used a common sense approach, talking me through some clearly bad practice. This was supported by videos of tour professionals and their good skills alongside videos made of my approach. “They were very different! “On Matt’s recommendation I made a few simple changes to my stance, address and swing (I was that bad) and things seemed to improve at once. Being a senior my body has a few issues but this improved swing is far more comfortable and takes a lot less toll on my body. “I have some way to go, don’t we all, but with renewed and justified confidence in where the ball will end up I have seen and continue to see improvements in my game to the point that I recently came first in the Seniors Away two day competition, The SOFOT. “Matt’s use of new technology means that I can review the videos of my swing at any time and at home and this feature of his lessons is very welcome. “I now look forward to golf once again and the enjoyment levels from a round has increased significantly. This enthusiasm includes the nine holes I will be sharing with Matt in the coming weeks.“
Steve Thanks for sharing Steve and allowing me to share in the newsletter.
