Greetings golfers,
This week I attended a coaching seminar called 'The art and science of pitching', it was honestly one of the best seminars I have been to. Firstly, it was great because they confirmed some of the core principles that I include in my coaching when teaching short game. Secondly, the science, backed up by factual evidence from robot testing as well as data from elite players, showed that the perfect launch conditions of a pitch shot can be easily coached to golfer of all abilities.
Just how good is good? It showed tour averages and proximity to hole and it's not as close as you think. For a 50-75 yard pitch shot the tour average is nearly 17 feet, which is over 5 and half yards from the flag.
The last thing that really stood out was how far can you hit the ground behind the ball (yes I said behind the ball) on a small pitch shot whilst still managing to hit a successful shot. Well, with good technique, it can be up to 10 inches. Check out this video of me hitting a shot to see.
If you want to know how it's done you can book in for a lesson by clicking here.
Enhance Your Putting
We have a limited availability of counter balance SuperStroke putter grips available for ONLY £20. They normally retail at £34.99 so, with stock limited, get in quick. We also have a new product for us at Stevenage called the 2Thumb Grip. The idea is that both hands go on the putter at the same height which gets the shoulders on a level angle, allowing you to rock the shoulders easier on your putts. Why not pop in and see both products in store?
GPS - Finally Here
They are here! The buggies now have been fitted with the GPS that we mentioned in last month's newsletter. You will be pleased to know we haven't increased the price of the buggies. There may be some initial teething problems but please bear with us and if there is anything that you feel we need to know about when you use them please let us know.
Congrats Gordon Farmer
Congratulations to Gordon Farmer who won the Lombard Qualifier on Saturday with an impressive nett score of 65, 7 under his handicap. I look forward to spending the day with you at one of the regional qualifiers later in the year and we will report back on how we get on. Hopefully with good news of a trip to Portugal for the grand final.
