Back In Action

Last week I was in competitive action in the 2nd East Region Qualifying School to gain a ranking for this year. It was over two days and was certainly two days and two very different rounds. Thursday and round one was possibly the worst I have played in 3 years. It was a really bad day and at one point I honestly didn't know where it was going. The par was 73 and I scored 84, whcih meant I was in a tie for 40th place from 50 players. The only positive I could think about was that I still had 18 holes to go and I could still have a good knock in round 2, also considering how badly I played yet still beat 20% of the field. A bit of work on the range and I was back on Friday for round 2. A much better day and a 75 meant I jumped up to inside the top 25, this should provide me with a ranking this year to play in some east region events


 

Coming Up

This week is the May Medal and Lombard Pro Am Qualifier. This event was won by Bob 'The Grip' Morris last year and, after speaking to him on Tuesday, he is out to win again. 

So what is the Lombard Qualifier? It is the biggest Pro Am event in the country. The winner of Saturday's event will get to play with myself in one of the 14 regional qualifiers. Only the winning pair of each regional qualifier progress to the grand final which changes every year. This year the final is played in Portugal at Vila Sol Golf Hotel in the Algarve. If you are a Stevenage Golf Club Member I would really recommend getting signed up for this event on Saturday. Who knows, it could end up with a golf trip of a lifetime.
