Greetings golfers,

This week I was back in competitive action playing in The Thompson Tour, Tour Championships at The Bedford Golf Club. I was lucky enough to have Stevenage Golf Club member Richard Moore on the bag for the day. Richard caddied for me earlier in the year and obviously wasn't put off doing it again so I had the pleasure of him carrying my bag for 36 holes. The caddying was of a high standard and the golf for me was ok, shooting 73-75 to finish 14th from 48 players.  Rich can be found on twitter @golfresilience.

A Course To Suit Everyone

We are launching some new courses, starting next month, for families and over 50's. This is working with SBC. The family sessions are a 4 week course for families of 2 adults and 2 juniors. There is space for a maximum of 5 families per 4 week course and, best of all, it is FREE and if you attend for the 4 weeks the two juniors are entitled to a FREE 7 iron. The content of the course is:

  • Week 1 - Basics, set up and fundamental 1 - the low point.
  • Week 2 - Woods, set up and swing
  • Week 3 - Pitching
  • Week 4 - Putting

The dates are:

  • Course 1: May 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th - 2pm
  • Course 2: June 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th - 2pm
  • Course 3: July 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd - 2pm.

Any of these can be booked on my online diary by selecting 'SoActive Family Sessions', we only need the lead name from each family.

The over 50's course is aimed at people over the age of 50, new to golf or looking to improve. There are 2 separate 6 week courses that both start on 4th May at 10am and 6pm. There is a maximum of 8 people per group. Each week we will cover technique, golf knowledge and a simple rule. There is even a round of golf included at the end for you to go out on the course at your leisure. Again, this is ONLY £15 and can be booked online by clicking here and selecting 'So Active Over 50 Sessions'.

Clinics

I have put some clinics up for April for playing lessons, short game and putting. The posters are on the board next to the Pro Shop as well and these will need to be booked in advance. Info for each is as follows:

  • Putting Clinic- 1 hour, up to 6 people, Tuesday 18th April at 6pm, £5 per person.
  • Playing Lesson - 9 holes, up to 3 people, Saturday 22nd April and Saturday 29th April, £12.50 per person.
  • Short Game Clinic - 1 hour 30 minutes, up to 4 people, Tuesday 2nd April, £7.50 per person.

These can be booked through the shop or through my online diary.

Podcast Of The Week

This week it's from the 'Golf Science Lab' and 'What makes a good putter', the latest series is about biomechanics and this episode looks at what you can do biomechanically to improve your putting. One interesting point that I picked up on was that golfers with a stronger right handed grip make better putters. Click here to have a listen and let me know what you think.

Motocaddy Battery Trade In

It’s time to consider something different

The majority of golfers are switching to Lithium batteries to power their electric trolley because, with a 5-year limited warranty, it provides a reliable and more cost-effective option than a Lead-Acid alternative. Now is the ideal time to swap as we’re offering £25 OFF a Lithium battery when you trade-in your old one.
