Hello golfers,
Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly newsletter. We have some great news coming about the Teaching Studio so watch this space for its official announcement coming very soon.
What a weekend of golf at the U.S. Open, only to be let down by the USGA on the final day. It's a shame that the event will be remembered due to the rules controversy, rather than how Dustin Johnson over-powered the field on the final day. The way he played the 72nd hole was unbelievable and for that to be under-minded because of the penalty shot debate is a shame. Keep scrolling down the newsletter to see a video of the incident.
I think it shows that Dustin's technique isn't perfect and rather unorthodox. Dec and I have our coaching philosophies but always have the golfer's individual needs at the heart of our coaching. So if you haven't had any coaching before, it is a process of improvement and not instant big changes in your golf swing. With a bit of guidance, you could be playing better golf which would mean more enjoyable golf.
After the success of the last batch of clinics at Stevenage Golf and Conference Centre, I have added some new dates to the calendar:
Beat the course
Playing with a lot of amateur golfers in Pro-Ams or on site, I often see them play the wrong shot at the wrong time causing them to lose shots. This playing lesson is a great way to play with other golfers and myself in a relaxed atmosphere where I can offer guidance and get you playing the right shot at the right time. Here are the upcoming dates:
- Sat 25 Jun - 2pm
- Tue 28 Jun - 5pm
- Thu 7 Jul - 6pm
- Sat 16 Jul - 2pm
- Mon 25 Jul - 6pm
- Thu 4 Aug - 6pm
Short game and wedge education
A specific clinic aimed at improving your short game. The best player on the PGA Tour get up-and-down 67% of the time when missing the green. The 100th player gets up-and-down 58% of the time. If you can get up-and-down just 10% more than you currently do, think how many shots you could save.
Thu 30 Jun - 5:30pm
Sat 2 Jul - 3pm
Sat 9 Jul - 2pm
Thu 14 Jul - 6pm
Sat 30 Jul - 2pm
Sat 6 Aug - 3pm
Members' only clinic
One item I will be doing on a monthly basis is a new members-only clinic, which will be on the first Wednesday of each month.
Wednesday, 6 July at 6pm
The Grid: Building a purposeful practice station
Each clinic will be on a different topic and I will release the calendar for the rest of the year very soon. This is a FREE event for members only and booking is essential.
If you wish to book your place at any of the above events, you can do so by getting in touch here.
Last week Dec and I played in the London Open which was eventually won by European Tour player Simon Khan. Unfortunately, neither of us played great and we can only report that we must try better next time, which is this week at the East Region Championship being held close by at Essendon Golf Club on the Old Course. I'm sure I can report better things in the next edition of the newsletter.
